Why do people fart in there sleep?

hey guys ive got a 12 year old sister and i ve been laying in bed and all i can hear and smell is farting? but she is totally asleep im just thinking why do you fart when you sleep could anyone answer this its kind off creepy... she's being doing it for quite a while know and she dont even know she is doing it...
