So will tigers, despite what someone here claimed - they even kill their own cubs accidentally from time to time, so strong is the urge to mate with the mother (she will not mate if she has cubs already). The males of hundreds of species will kill offspring not their own, and not just predators - elephants, zebras, rhinos, giraffes and so on will all kill young if they can, in hope of mating with the mother.
